This five-bedroom property is comprised of two self-contained villas, each with a private entrance and a private pool, presenting guests with a two, three or five bedroom renting option. The three-bedroom Main Villa and the two-bedroom Master Suite can either be linked or remain totally separate and private.
Villa Sembilan's style blends modern Balinese architecture with local materials and imported fixtures and fittings, with interior design that features startling splashes of colour complemented by soft furnishings and other sumptuous fabrics. Romantic walled gardens showcase the villa's lush tropical vegetation including fragrant flowering trees and shrubs, orchids, ferns, scarlet hibiscus, pandanas and coconut palms.
The beautiful, open-sided, living and dining pavilion epitomises tropical living at its very best. Bordered by the main pool and adjoining koi fish ponds, this ample lounge is cooled by natural breezes and ceiling fans. Wooden pillars support a traditional ‘alang alang' thatched roof above a cream terrazzo paved floor. The contemporary furnishings include a pair of deeply cushioned rattan sofas, a coffee table, ottoman, desk and table lamps that are complemented by hand-carved stone statues and antique Indonesian artefacts from around the archipelago. Ideal for entertaining and relaxing, there is also a dining table that seats ten people and a quality music system with surround speakers in the ceiling.
White Palimanan paving stones beside the 12 x 4 metre swimming pool create an attractive patio, with four teak sunloungers and sun-umbrellas provided for the comfort of guests. Beside the pool is a ‘bale bengong' relaxation pavilion furnished with cushions and a comfortable mattress. The Balinese word ‘bengong' means ‘lost in thought', and ‘bale' means an abode, so a bale bengong is literally a ‘contemplation house', designed for reflection, dreaming and meditation. This is also a great spot for practising yoga or enjoying a massage while being serenaded by the tranquil sound of the cascading waterfall at the far end of the pool.
A bench seat is positioned in the pool, so that guests can sit underneath the waterfall and experience an exhilarating shower.
Two of the bedrooms, the Sinta Room and the Rama Room, are located on the ground floor, with the entrances heralded by a terracotta replica of a ‘candi' from the Majapahit era, positioned in a red alcove. The prime room is situated upstairs under a soaring thatched roof with a lovely view overlooking the garden and pool. Each bedroom is tastefully furnished with a king-size bed, armchairs, tables, lamps and local artwork. Each is equipped with individually controlled air-conditioning, DVD/CD player, flat screen TV with satellite channels, and a safe deposit box. The Sita and Rama rooms are each characterised by Palimanan stone floors, French windows and walk-in dressing rooms. The Prime room is distinguished by a warm timber floor and a fitted wardrobe.
Each bedroom has a luxurious en-suite bathroom, fashioned in cream marble with built in cupboards, shelf units and mirrors. The ground floor garden bathrooms are open to the sky, walled for privacy and planted with leafy shrubs harmonised with staghorn ferns and whimsical stone carvings. Each features a semi-alfresco bathtub, twin washbasins, a raindrop shower with a built-in seat, and a toilet. The en-suite bathroom for the Prime Room features marble walls, timber floor, twin washbasins, toilet and walk-in raindrop shower with a built-in seat.
A terracotta tiled sundeck next to the Prime Room presents a tempting spot for a sunset rooftop cocktail.
The self-contained Master Suite is accessed by its own private entrance or via an adjoining door that links it to the Main Villa. It is comprised of the master bedroom, master bathroom, large dressing room, a study room that also doubles as an additional bedroom complete with an en-suite shower room, a kitchenette, an alfresco dining terrace, a verandah with a built-in daybed, and a walled garden with 6 x 3 metre pool fed by waterspouts.
The air-conditioned master bedroom is distinguished by glass doors on two sides and a marble floor. It is dominated by a king-size bed and is also furnished with a desk, chairs, oriental rugs, and a cushioned daybed. It is equipped with a DVD/CD player and flat screen TV with satellite channels. The large walk-in dressing room features plenty of hanging and storage space and is also equipped with a safe deposit box.
The master bathroom is crafted in cream marble and fitted with a luxurious Jacuzzi bathtub, twin washbasins, a toilet and bidé, and a walk-in raindrop shower with a built-in seat.
The air-conditioned study is a cosy room with a warm timber floor, a computer with high speed Internet broadband connection, and wooden shelves containing a library of books, DVDs and magazines. It is furnished with a desk, two chairs, and a sofa bed that can be converted into either twin beds or a double bed. The adjoining bathroom is fitted with a rainshower, washbasin and toilet.
The kitchenette is equipped with a gas hob with four burners, a fridge, kettle, drinking water dispenser, and a microwave. The open-air terrace is furnished with a dining table for four, two planter chairs and a coffee table.
